How to Go From Decision Paralysis to Confident Decision Maker!
How do you go from being caught in analysis paralysis to confidently making smart decisions?
If you are working on a project or initiative where the steps aren't always clear, you may have wondered this yourself.
You don't want to make bad decisions, but you also don't want to be that person who can't make up their mind for fear of potential outcomes.
Here are a few suggestions to help guide you through making more confident decisions:
✅ Get clear on the "why" of the project.
Like laser-focused clear, because the further you get from the purpose, the harder the decision-making process will feel.
I like to put a summary of my project's purpose at my workstation where I am reminded everyday.
✅ Always look at the problem from the perspective of the person or group who is being served.
This should be second nature.
Talk to these groups, ask them questions, develop an understanding of their pain points. Ultimately, you don't know what you don't know. So figure it out by really getting in there and investigating.
✅ Have confidence in yourself that you are making the best decision you can with the data you have right now.
Many decisions can be altered or even reversed, but if you don't do anything...then you aren't ever going to get anywhere!
If this is a big problem for you, I encourage you to start small with decisions that seem less scary. The more decisions you make, the more comfortable you will get.
