Why the Ability to Make Money is a Super Power
Belief in yourself and your independent ability to make money is highly underrated (IMO).
You learn how to go to school, pass tests, get certified, land jobs, and work your way up the ladder, but did you learn how to provide for yourself? Like, actually make your own money? 💡
I experienced my first company-wide layoff in my early 20s. This experience happened to coincide with a mentor teaching me about multiple income streams.
While I wasn’t laid off (I was “spared” and moved to a different department, totally different job that I didn’t want), I learned that never again did I want to feel the sheer panic I felt that day at the thought of losing my one and only source of income.
So over the next 16 years I went on a mission to design a life that provided flexibility, security, and empowerment for myself. I minimized my expenses, created my own multiple income streams, and worked with entrepreneurs to learn how to build viable businesses.
There were some twists and turns. I lost a little, then rebuilt. Lost a lot, rebuilt again. And if I lost what I have today, you better believe I know the steps it takes to get back up and start again. 💪
I’m not independently wealthy nor do I plan to retire any time soon, but that’s ok because what I have is something so much more powerful: the knowing that everything will be ok.
Here are a few of the basics that have helped me get to this point, and what I hope to teach my own daughter:
⭐ Ability to communicate with and build connections with people.
⭐ Basic understanding of how to build a business and the discipline to follow through.
⭐ Resilience and belief in myself (this is built by continually showing myself that I’m capable).
⭐ Strategically setting up my life in such a way that loss of income will not be devastating (this takes time to build).
(I can't write this without mentioning that I am forever grateful for my health which has allowed me the opportunity to pursue this lifestyle.)
❓ Do you feel confident in your ability to make your own money, if it came down to it?
