Where are the Female Project Managers?

Where are the female project managers?

Over the weekend I read this statistic from the March 2023 Project Management Institute report titled “The State of Women in Project Management - 2023”:

➡ “Male project managers outnumber female project managers by 3:1.” (see link below in the comments).

The report further examines gender disparities by region and industry, along with a breakdown of the demographics of the respondents.

Reading this report caused me to reflect on my own experience working as a project manager in tech.

What I realized is that I’m fortunate to say I’ve worked with some amazing folks, gender conversations aside. Great people are great people, period.

But I also can’t help but notice the lack of a female presence.

This has affected the way I have shown up in my career, particularly after becoming a mother. I know I’m not alone here.

And I want to help change that.

⭐ Specifically, I want to help by making sure our female project leaders have access to the support and guidance they need to flourish.

⭐ We can make sure this happens by reaching out, building community, and strengthening relationships.

➡ Are you a female who works in project/program management or aspires to work in this area?

If so, I want to know you! 👋🏻
