Do This Before Pivoting to Project Management

If you are thinking about pivoting to project management, before you make the leap please have actual conversations with experienced project managers in the industry you are targeting.

I’ve heard from several folks recently who have pivoted and ended up unhappy.

Project management wasn’t what they thought it was.

They loved the company and the team, but the work wasn’t the right fit. It wasn’t what they envisioned.

➡ And here’s why: being a project manager isn’t necessarily predictable.

It may sound like it would be because we are dealing with schedules and timelines and all the organizational things.

But the reality is we have to sort through some ambiguity to get there.

And sometimes, depending on where you work, it might even be a little chaotic.

If you aren’t comfortable with wading through some of that or if you are a person who thrives in structure, then this career path may not be for you.

And that's ok!

One of the great things about LinkedIn is we have this amazing community of professionals right at our fingertips.

And many of these folks are more than willing to have a conversation.

So if you have curiosities about project management, just ask! ⭐
